THE CALDWELL COLLECTION AT MUSTANG FIELD

What started as a private collection driven by passion is now transitioning into a public treasure for aviation enthusiasts, historians, and the local community. The Caldwell Collection at Mustang Field means that the Golden Age of Aviation will not only be displayed but will continue to fly, be restored, and educate future generations about aviation’s golden era.

Visitors will have the unique opportunity to see live restoration work in the collection’s dedicated restoration shop, operated in collaboration with Waldo Wright’s Flying Service. This hands-on experience for restoration owners will provide a behind-the-scenes look at the intricate skills and techniques required to keep these historic planes in flying condition.

With the museum set to open in October 2025, the antique aircraft on display will serve as its foundation—a testament to resilience, craftsmanship, and the enduring spirit of flight. The restoration of the historic 1943 WWII hangar at Mustang Field provides the perfect setting, blending past and present to create an immersive aviation experience.

The Caldwell Collection at Mustang Field is more than just a presentation of an era of extraordinary aircraft—it’s a celebration of the pioneers of flight, the aviation heroes of World War II who earned their wings at Mustang Field, and the passion that continues to drive aviation preservation today.
